Our client was looking for a way of retrofitting Underfloor Heating into 7 Luxury Apartments. Due to the nature of the building, some of the floors were already occupied so this required a sympathetic approach. There could be no pumped screed or heavy boards as the 7 Apartments were on the upper floor of the building. Each apartment had to be fitted with weather compensated controls for comfort and energy savings.
Due to the location of the site in Kensington, London there were also logistical considerations with delivery by small vehicle only and between certain time. Our chosen logistics partner tackled this with ease.
Particularly on the first floor, the requirement was for a retrofit underfloor heating system that wouldn’t raise the floor level excessively and provide good thermal output

During the design phase we concluded that our Routed Insulation Board, ‘RRB System‘ would be the ideal solution. RRB is a low-profile high density rigid board with a glass-fibre reinforced cement finish suitable for direct fixing to the sub-floor and tiling. This system was encapsulated in a latex self-levelling compound. This allowed the client to install a variety of floor finishes in each apartment, from Carpet to Tile and Engineered Wood Flooring. This system gives true flexibility.
For the Weather Compensated controls we supplied a DN20 Modvlvs Header and Mixed Pump Station arrangement, paired with a Tekmar 360e Mixing Valve Controller.
